Have you guys turned on the heat yet?

I'm still holding out, trying to see if we can make it to November before turning it on but with the cold this week I might have to give in.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: Have you guys turned on the heat yet?

  • I wasn't going to but my husband did 2 nights ago! I was totally trying to hold out.

  • Yes.  We have electric heat though so I can just turn it on room by room as I need it.  I usually hold out until the temps are below 60 indoors, but I was just too cold last night when I got home and putting the heat on made me feel so much better.

It's really cold this week.  I just got out my sweaters and winter coats this morning when I saw the forecast.  Brr.

  • Ya, but still really low, like 64ish.

  • We have a programable thermostat and it kicked on between Saturday and Sunday. I hadn't been planning to "turn on the heat" but I forgot that we just left the program "going" when it started getting warm since the heat won't kick on when the temperature reads above the set temp.

ETA: The house our apartment is in was built it 1880 and has poor insulation and there's no radiator in the bedroom, so it gets cold pretty quickly.

  • We have not turned it on as of yet. (In fact, we STILL have the a/c in our windows. My husband has been away on business the past two weeks. He's coming home tonight. Hopefully he'll take them down rather soon.)Hoping to hold out until November at least before we turn the heat on. I don't know how we will do this, but one can wish.

  • Yep, we turned ours on Monday, but also on a low setting.
  • I caved and turned it on first thing this morning, for almost an hour... we turned it off because we really wanna be home with it for the first time to make sure nothing blows up... so it'll go back on tonight.
  • Nope, not yet.  I have switched over to the fall/winter lounge clothes, wearing fleece pants instead of thinner cotton ones, hoodies, slippers, but I haven't been too cold in our place yet.

  • We don't control our heat (the apartment has central air, but controlled by DH's father's part of the house) so they turned it on over the weekend but we have to now sleep with the bedroom window open so that we can get it as cold as we like it to sleep!

  • I'm proud to say I have not turned on my heat yet! I did turn on my fireplace earlier today but it wasn't so much for heat as it was for ambiance.
  • Not yet.  H and I are real sticklers with the heat so that we don't have to have the oil come all the time. Last winter we only had the heat above 65 when we had guests over.  We just bundle up. :-)

  • I am always cold but was trying to hold out putting it on. I definitely jumped for joy when DH wanted to turn the heat on two nights ago!
  • last week.  the nights got too cold - I couldn't stand to get out of bed in the morning.

Me too. It is the worst about transitioning to fall. Sad That and having to use the heat in my car to warm my hands because they end up super dry.
