Help! Photo Cards

We've decided to do photo cards for Christmas this year.  I did my TY cards through Snapfish, and I liked them, but I thought I'd collect some other ideas from you all.  If you've done photo cards in the past...

Which website/company did you use?

Did you order a flat or folded style?

Did you use one picture, or multiples?

What did you like (or dislike) about the final product?

TIA!  Oh, and unfortunately iPhoto isn't an option for me.  We are PCs :)

Re: Help! Photo Cards

  • Ooohhh, yay!  Thanks for asking about these!!  I have nothing to add but have been meaning to ask a very similar question.

  • I like the options at Shutterfly.  Also VistaPrint has them too our you can DIY your design and upload it to one of their "blanks" which is also fun.  TinyPrint.com has some nice designs too.
  • Get photo mount cards.  I like the quality much better than the pre-printed kind.  You print your photos and insert/adhere:

  • I used psprint.com for our wedding TY cards and loved them.  I'm not sure how your cards from Snapfish turned out but a friend of mine used Shutterfly for her TY cards and I was not impressed with the image quality AT ALL.  The photos looked really grainy.  Ours from psprint were really sharp and looked really professional.  I designed them in Photoshop and just uploaded the files to their website.  They have a template for the dimensions.  I like that you can print on all 4 parts (of a folded card).  So I had print on the front, the top of the inside, and the back of the card.  (Vistaprint didn't allow for print on the back.)  The only bad thing was at the time, the minimum order was 250 cards so I have tons extra.  But it was still only like $70.  I just checked the website and now they have them in increments of 50 starting at 50.  HTH!  And here's how our cards turned out:

  • I really wasn't all that impressed with our Shutterfly thank you folding cards, either.  The picture quality wasn't atrocious, but certainly wasn't great.  That said, I ordered flat photo cards from Shutterfly for our holiday cards and was happy with them.  I jazzed them up by mounting them on cardstock and doing matching wrap-around labels.  (We wrote personal notes on the back with a silver pen).

  • I, too, was not that impressed with my Shutterfly Thank You cards, though they were certainly the right price.  I just sort of felt that the paper was a little cheap-feeling, though that might only be the style that I got (the small sized thank you notes)

  • I've ordered photo cards from Snapfish, Shutterfly, KodakGallery.com, funandsassydesigns.com, vistaprint.com and tinyprints.com.  All were fine quality.

The only reason I would put tinyprints a bit ahead is because of their paper...they use a nice, heavy cardstock.  But they are also pretty pricey so not the best deal to be had.

I think I used multiple pictures on all the cards except for one (DS's birth announcement).

    Good luck!
