1. Why am I the only person in any office I've ever worked in who realizes that there is a PICTURE on every machine that you put paper into (copy machine, printer, fax, scanner) that tells you how to put the paper in?!?! Am I a superhero or something; the only person who can see this picture??
2. I go by a different name than my legal name; however my job and my school make me use the legal name as my email address. In my signature, I sign every email as the name that everyone calls me. No one ever looks at it! I always get emails addressed to Legal Name, a name I never use. On my end, everytime I get an email I pay more attention to who signs it than to the email address. So if someone named William emails me, I always check his signature to see if he calls himself Will, William, Bill, Will I Am, you know. WHY CAN'T EVERYONE BE AS RESPCTFUL AS I AM?!
Anyway. What are your pet peeves?
Re: Work related pet peeves
I totally agree with both. I see that happen a ton with the #2 (especially working in a global company)...we'll have people named Xi Ling or something but they sign their email with "Sharon" - I address it to Sharon.
As discussed in previous emails, I can't stand people that feel the need to call or set up a conference call for one or two questions...freaking send me an instant message or email me. I hate talking on the phone for a couple of questions that can easily be answered in another form of communication.
I realize this isn't the point of the story, but exactly how many e-mails do you get from Will.I.Am?
This plus, if someone jams the copier, they just leave it. Really??? How hard is it to follow the directions on the screen and fix your mistake for the next person who comes down to use it?
I also write IEP's and MFE's for special ed kids in the whole school. When I ask the teachers a question or ask them to turn in paperwork they look at me like I just asked them to give me their first born and complain about all the work they have to do. Umm, I write IEP's for 150 kids...you have 15 kids in your class total.
Great idea for a post justdandy!
At least three a day. You don't know my life. I might be the songwriter for the Black Eyed Peas.

LOL. Love it.
Haha these crack me up b/c they are so true!
I work with another lady and she refuses to file anything she works on. She leaves it on my desk for me to file. It's not that difficult...file it!
I agree, I used a short firstname name instead of my full firstname and my signature in my email shows Thank you, short first name. And then below that it shows my full name... but everyone always calls me by my full firstname and its annoying.. cant you see that I use my short firstname.
Another pet peeve of mine is I have this older woman that sits in front of me and every day she rattles around a plastic grocery bag and its soo annoying. She coughs and sneezes non-stop everyday too.
There is a girl 2 seats back from me that I am good friends with that is my age, and she's always on the phone with her boyfriend or someone else. I just get tired of hearing all her conversations on the phone.
And the lady behind me.. she bangs on her keyboard like you wouldnt believe when she types. LOL
Dont you all just love working in an office?
They should put him in custurdy
Ummmm I wish I could have someone write all my IEPs for me... haha.

the woman that sits behind me pops her gum all day long. there is a song out of Chicago "he had it coming" and one of the women complains about how her bf popped his gum so much that she shot him. yeah, that's how i feel!
ditto the people that talk loudly on the phone all day too. we've got one of those in our office.
I know right...I keep thinking if they worked in a "real" school they would be writing them themselves. I work for a charter school and they pay people to write them...which is good for me, but I hate my job!
I got really pissed yesterday because I found out that the ice pops that I bought for my kindergarten class with my money, that I had written "kindergarten" all over, have been used as my center's go-to snack box. I thought that knotting a plastic bag around them in our communal freezer might deter people, but people have just untied the bag. Yesterday I saw someone give one to a toddler that bit his lip. Seriously??? Ice packs are used, not popsicles that someone has bought with their own money!
So this morning I wrote a big note that says "Do not take ANY (underlined and highlighted) ice pops from this box! Thank you!" and taped it to the box. I told our assistant director about it and she thinks that our director has been taking them and just didn't realize that I bought them with my money. Regardless, if they are clearly labeled, how disrespectful can you get?
