Northshore Girls--leaving or staying?

Hey gals!  I'm new to this whole thing and almost everyone I know here lives on the other side of the lake.  So....should we be evacuating?  What are you doing?????

Re: Northshore Girls--leaving or staying?

  • It looks like we are staying. I figure we rode out Katrina here, we can do it again. Plus, most of DH's family from Metairie is coming to either my house or my IL's (who live 1/2 a mile away). If it gets to be bigger than a 3, I think I will pack up and head to my sister's house in Gonzales. What is your plan?

  • Well we are planning on staying unless they order a mandatory evacuation.  I was originally thinking that we would head out regardless and just make a "fun weekend" out of the whole thing but after checking the projection maps this morning--I think we'll stay.   Originally there was talk of evacuating the northshore as well but now I'm reading that they're going to evacuate everyone south of NOLA.  I guess we just never know....
  • Depends. Big 3 or higher we're leaving, just because we have a place to go and a large amount of trees around our house. If it's smaller we're staying. We have no clue where it's going yet, if it's going to hit New Orleans directly, then we'll leave (again 3 or higher) if it goes more westerly, then we'll stay.?
  • Hey Emily! I'm headed out to Houston as originally planned to see my family which works out. I hope you guys get to enjoy your weekend wherever you are. If you're working and need anything from me, I have everything and am taking it all home with me in case we can't come back immediately! Stay safe!!

  • We've decided that we're staying unless they have an evacuation.  We're pretty much prepared if we stay here (there's always more we can do).  And we FINALLY made arrangements if we have to leave.  Since we have no family anywhere near us we were looking for hotel rooms that would take our pets (3 cats, 1 dog).  There isn't anything available within 150 miles.  I was starting to freak out when my my best said she talked to her aunt who lives in Houston and her aunt offered her place for us to go and we can take our pets.  I was so relieved.  We also offered our place for a girl I worked with who lives on the west bank.  She just moved here too from PA.  If they're evacuating, she'll be staying with us.

  • I think we're leaving. The hospital I work at evacuated today and will finish tommorow and I'm not having to stay this time. So we're going to my mom's in Shreveport, if anything it will be a nice visit to my moms. I'm just ready for all this to be over with.
