WR (Yes, Wedding Related!) Question

Who were your bridesmaid dresses by? (As in, what designer)?

Do you have a link to the site? What did you think about color availability/selection/quality/etc?

My best friend is getting married in July and she's looking for brands outside Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal (she likes both of those, she'd just like more options). I see to remeber hearing "Dessy" and "Mori Lee" a lot...any feedback on those???

Re: WR (Yes, Wedding Related!) Question

  • Mine were just from David's bridal. I refused to expect my BMs to pay any more than $100 or so dollars for a dress they'd most likely never wear agaian.

My wedding dress was Mori Lee and it was amazing quality. I think most of the stuff though is WAY overpriced. (I got lucky and paid almost nothing for my dress, but retail it was about $3K)

Jasmine's B2 line, but purchased from Pearl's Place because it saved each girl $42 off the salon price. They paid $119.

  • I had a prom dress once that was Mori Lee. It was good quality. But, my BM dresses were DB, so no help there.

  • We went with bridesmaid dresses from J. Crew. They were really nice, pretty affordable, and the colors were accurate (computer to real life). I like them, and chose them, because you can totally rewearable.
  • We went with JCrew as well and got them on sale for around $150 + shipping. I agree with PP that the colors were very true to what I saw online.

  • Mine were Bill Levkoff and while I think the quality of the dresses and color were great, the sizing was ridiculously off.  Every single one of my girls had to have major alterations and they were all measured at different stores so not all of their measurements could have been screwed up.  The upfront prices were semi-reasonable in the $150 range.  I think the majority of the line is between $100-$200.
  • Mine were AA.  Color selection, quality etc was good.

I didn't use them for ours, but I've had to get an Aria dress for another wedding.  People are often asking me questions about that experience, so fire away if you'd like.

  • Ours were J. Crew, final sale. Even though they were final sale, the weddings line let the girls return/exchange sizes/styles if they wanted. We used two colors and I was thrilled with the results.
  • The dresses were by Jordan

Here's the link...I think the color is softer in real life. It seems really bright on the website. Here's the link:

  • I let my bridesmaids choose whatever dresses they wanted as long as they were black and had straps or sleeves.  I did choose a Banana Republic dress as a model of one that I liked, but only one bridesmaid ended up picking it.  I think my sister/MOH ended up wearing a dress from Anthropologie--which was totally gorgeous!

    Here they are

  • Hmm, the flowers are kind of blocking the dresses.  Should have thought of that.
  • We went with David's Bridal, but there was a Mori Lee dress that was a runner up. But none of us liked the shade of red it came in.

Also, I just wanted to remind you that my EvSIL loves buying dresses for other bridesmaids so if you guys need help, she might be available. ;)

  • I didn't force my friends to buy a dress, LOL!

I didn't have a wedding party, but I have had the *pleasure* of wearing a few by Jim Hjelm, Bellsoie, and another designer I don't remember right now.

  • i didn't have a wedding party, but my dress was actually a bm dress. i bought it online from therosedress.com. i had a tape measure and used their sizing chart to figure out what size to order. i also read the return policy very closely. i think almost all their dresses are bout $100 and the quality was very good. i didn't need it altered at all.

  • We used Bari Jay, They had lots of colors to choose from and they came back looking great, plus alot of them came in maternity (these was the possibility that my sister might be pregnant) I thought they were fairly expensive for a bridesmaid to pay for,(i think they were $190) but my bridesmaids didnt pay for their own dresses so it wasnt a big deal.I do think they had some that were more decently priced though.

I actually have been looking at this brand for a wedding I am in next June.  Most seemed to be in the $150-200 range.  My BMs wore AA

  • Mine were by melissa sweet.  I hate taffeta so I wanted to go with silk bridesmaid dresses. the quality was great, but it took a while to get them in. There were lots of colors.
  • mine were by Dessy - they were officially part of the "After Six" line - the color was exactly what was on the website and they fit the girls great.  I got a discount on them because I bought my dress at the same shop (so they were $118...but normally like, $150ish?)  There were a LOT of color options for all of their dresses.

They were in midnight blue with a white sash

More pictures are in my bio!

  • Many many many thanks, ladies! I will pass these along to her :)

  • Mine were about 100 bucks from DB. My girls liked them and they re-wear them. They were white with a black flower patterns and a ribbon at the waist (tea-length).
