Minneapolis/St. Paul
1. Mall of America - This is definitely a tourist place as most locals will find a smaller mall. It is fun to experience once though.
2. Any of the lakes nearby - Calhoun, Harriet, Minnetonka, the list goes on. There is sailing on the lakes within Minneapolis but Minnetonka allows motorized boats. Very relaxing
3. Minnesota Zoo - From what I've heard it's pretty big but I've actually never been there.
4. Valleyfair - a local amusement park.
5. Sculpture Garden - The cherry on the spoon is especially popular.
Town: Lexington, KY
Top 5 Tourist Attractions:
1) Keeneland (historic horse track that is absolutely breathtaking)
2) Bourbon Tours/Distillery District (like hawkilady: it is a drive of bourbon distilleries around central KY. my favorite is Woodford Reserve.
3) Kentucky Horse Park: will be home to the 2010 world equestrian games (first time ever they will be in America).
4) Versailles Castle/Castle Post (a literal huge castle that is now a private residence but is rented out for events).
5) Red River Gorge. Its about an 45 min away, but it is a huge hiking and rock climbing spot. it is also home to Natural Bridge: a huge natural rock bridge.
Town: Rochester NY
? High Falls - which I believe is the highest urban waterfall in the US.
? Strong Museum of Play - a pretty awesome place for kids and adults.
? Susan B Anthony's House or George Eastman's (the guy who started Eastman Kodak Company). Eastman's house is about 3 blocks from my apartment.
? Lilac Festival. (After all this is the Flower City!) Highland Park has the world's largest collection of lilacs. There are 500 different varieties of lilacs covering about 20 acres. Every May there is a huge festival in the park while they are in bloom. Even Martha Stewart came by a few year back, therefor it must be awesome.
? Nick Tahou's - home of the "garbage plate". For those of you who don't know what a garbage plate is, its a plate of deliciously greasy goodness... consisting of either 2 hot dogs or 2 burgers (sans-bun) piled on a plate along with with mac salad and fries or hash browns, then topped with onions, ketchup, mustard and hot sauce. Chop, mix and enjoy! it looks gross but is sooo good!! ive found that these are best enjoyed drunk at 3am. haha.
TOWN: San Diego, California
(1) San Diego Zoo/San Diego Wild Animal Park
(2) Balboa Park (museums, gardens, historical societies)

1. Indianapolis Zoo (#1 because I worked there)

4. All of the monuments collectively (Medal of Honor, Soldiers and Sailors, USS Indianapolis - only city that has more national monuments is DC)
5. Indiana State Museum or Museum of Art
It's really not as boring as it seems. There are a lot of events that go on.
I was actually kind of disappointed in the Minnesota Zoo, I think the Como Zoo was a lot better.
