Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I just saw that you replied back.

"Does she have a more wirey coat than typical?  Our GS looks diff than most GS's and she only has one coat.  It's a little more thick or wirey...def not fluffy.  It's just a difference in the german lines vs the american lines.  Americans have bred ther GS's to be bigger and higher at the shoulders, whereas germans are typically smaller all around."

Out GS mix Tera only has one coat too, and it's actually pretty soft (but not fluffy or too thick). Not sure if it will stay how it is now as she gets older, or if it will get thicker and more coarse. We got very lucky with her, she's very sweet and housebroken. She's getting spayed tomorrow, and has been to the vet a lot since we got her (fleas, worms, and upper respiratory infection), but luckily she seems to be back on track with good health! Smile She's currently underweight, but has gone up from 36.5 pounds to 37.5 pounds over the two weeks we have had her (she's 8-9 months). The vet said just to feed her the normal amount and with treats she would start to make up her lost weight.

How old is your GS pup and how much does it weight?

  • Our girl, Sascha, is close to 3.5 years and can weigh anywhere between 70 and 80 lbs....depending on the time of year.  We can NOT keep her out of the pond in the summer.  She doesn't look that big, though.  She's just solid muscle because the dog never stops.  She listens real well and is pretty calm outdoors, but once she's outside she's a mad woman.  We have pictures of her on FB....actually she's on dogbook too. lol

  • Our Tera is on dogbook too, but I can't seem to get it to show in my profile!
  • I can't find Tera on dogbook:(
  • I'm going to have to figure out how to get it to work...
  • Well look us up when you do.  Nova (weimaraner) and Sascha (GS).  We have Brody, too, but he doesn't have a page yet.  WHOOPS!
