f/u Mommas- flu and/or H1N1 shot for DC & why?
I REALLY can't decide on this one despite all my research. I never have this problem. I cant decide if I should get DC an H1N1 and/or flu shot. Same goes for me because we are TTC another. Although, my Drs office says to get both except the live virus one. I research shots to death and know exactly which shot and which manf of the shots to give Kai. I never have this problem. Anyone have any studies, compelling thoughts on the subject? Kai is with me all day, goes to play dates and we travel so it seems we should give him (and me) one or both BUT.....:sigh: (maybe this is my gut talking). Mommas give me some advice please

Whatcha doing for your little one and why?
DS- 4 years old, Natural m/c @ 7 weeks-12/1/09. Infertility issues- low ovarian reserve- low AMH and high FSH. Looking into adoption.
Trying to figure out where to go with your little one? My favorite website is: Trekaroo

My youngest will get the flu shot in a few weeks at her 6 month checkup. My oldest already got the flu shot. Both of them will also get the H1N1 shot.
mrspresley made a good point
Did you read this? http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/
Today when I went to get my flu shot, I asked about the H1N1 and it seems (at least at my Dr's) they are not allowing everyone to get the H1N1..we will have to request it. I am also waiting to find out if I do decide to get it, which one.
Hey darl!
I'm so with you on this one! Mrs Presley did have a great point and the Dr Sears article is a worthwhile read.
My cousin works in one of the Australian companies that is conducting trials/testing for the H1N1 vaccine and she basically said to me that I should go for it (regarding getting the shot myself) but they are still conducting tests as far as children and this shot are concerned.
From my understanding, Australia is supplying a big chunk of this vaccine to the US (not saying ALL...just one of the suppliers to the US).
That's why I'm hesitating, I guess. It's just more info to add to the confusion...and I haven't made it less confusing for you too huh lol.
I'm leaning towards getting it for Maya and I though. It's Spring here at the moment and Summer begins Dec 1st so, technically, it isn't flu season in Aus. However, it seems like swine flu doesn't give a toss for which season it is, going off how it didn't really go underground during your US summer.
Again, what Mrs Presley and Dr Sears say about it makes a lot of sense and are good points. Go for the shots without the mercury.
thank ladies for some advice! I do actually own the Dr Sears book and always read his website. I love him! Just in case anyone didnt see this article inside the website. Here ya go: (http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/2009/09/four-swine-flu-vaccines-approved-by-fda.asp).
Hi Amy! Sean Patrick is getting both the flu shot (he got his first dose today in fact) and H1N1. They are both administered in 2 doses. We'll be going back next month for the 2nd installment of the flu shot and hopefully by then my pedi's office will have the H1N1 shot in stock. I don't know about your pedi's office but none of the vaccines at my pedi's office have mercury, it's just their policy.
H1N1 scares me for sure. We will be traveling this holiday season (for both Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years) and SP will be around a lot of new people so I'm not taking any chances.
