O Lawdy! That was something

President Obama visited New Orleans. I'm interested, b/c I lived there for the majority of my life. He took a question from an adorable, well dressed, clean cut fourth grade boy. I'm sure the President was looking forward to a very respectful question as he gave the mic to the boy...

The boy asked, "Why do people hate you?"

  • It's really sad that it's so obvious to a fourth grade boy.  I want to know why people hate Obama too.  It's one thing to not like his policies but it's another thing to HATE him.

  • Here's how I see it as a parent. If your child has the amazing opportunity to meet the President, you make sure that he is prepared.

    Freshly cut hair = check

    Brand new outfit = check

    Pressed shirt = check

    Appropriate conversation = ???

... which leads me to believe that the parents thought it was a good idea for him to ask that question... and in those words

This. Frankly, little kids are more interested in things like, "do you get free ice cream when you're President" and stuff like that. The kid was definitely coached, which I think is kind of sad and bizarre.

I do agree with Lisa - I don't get why people hate him, either. I mean, I can understand having different political viewpoints, that's fair enough? But hate? Hate is a strong, strong emotion. I completely don't understand that.
