Fall/Winter Foods

What are some of your favorite cold weather foods?  I love making beef stew, chicken pot pie, and roast beef!  I also love making a delicious chicken soup.

Re: Fall/Winter Foods

  • I love soup, particularly a hearty veggie soup I throw together a lot.  But generally speaking I don't change what I cook all that much from season to season--I have a limited repertoire :)
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I use the crock pot more, but otherwise (except things we cook on the grill) make the same foods.

  • soups, definitely.... tomato soup with grilled cheese is my fave...
  • Ditto on the soups, especially chili, and I don't know why but I eat a lot more baked potatoes in the winter, stuffed with (chili), broccoli, cheese, etc. DH loves to make brisket, although if he had his druthers he would do that all the time.

This isn't food, but we have a coffee maker/espresso machine and I love to steam apple cider, and make peppermint lattes in the winter, and DH loves to have egg nog.

    Yum!!

I love soups, but only thick creamy soups haha. Grilled cheese and tomato soup becomes one of my regular lunches through the winter. For dinners I love making warm comfort foods - shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, baked mac n cheese, taco pot pie... you get the idea Smile

  • DH makes a lot of chili and pot roast. I make beef stew, pasta carbonara, Barefoot Contessa's Chicken Stew w/ Biscuits (we're probs having that for Sunday dinner this weekend), lots of creamy soups from the New England Soup Factory cookbook, baked mac & cheese cassarole, etc. I definitely want to try to master a few more recipes to rotate in.
  • Homemade mac and cheese, shephard's pie, stews, roast chicken and veggies...
  • Oh man, I don't know how but I totally forgot about chili! Chili is one of my absolute favorite foods in the fall/winter :-)

  • Pumpkin soup is one of my fall favorites, I like to make it sweet and spicy.
  • Chili.  We rarely make it in the warmer months because it just doesn't feel right.
  • Chili, homemade pot pie, soups, pot roast, beef stew, lasagna, casseroles, chicken Florentine, chicken parm, a lot of roasted veggies.  We NEVER cook anything in the oven during the summer so come cool weather I REALLY start cooking up a storm!

JCam:  what is this taco pot pie???  Sounds delish!
