What colour would you paint the walls

I'm looking for ideas of what colour we should paint the baby's room. Here is the bedding we're going with:

http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=3471123&cp=2567322.2567322&parentPage=family

We are not getting the actual bedding set with the comforter, bumper etc. but I want to get the window valence, sheets, stickers, etc.

I don't want to do blue like they have in the add. Right now the room is a nice beige, it would go... but I feel like there should be some colour, especially since the entire rest of our house is done in the same beige (builder chose it)

I know a lot of you are pretty creative/decorating savy so I wanted to see if you have any ideas.

Oh and if it matters, the room has redish brown hardwood floors and we're getting this glider as a gift

crib and other furniture will probably be a similar dark stain like the glider.

Re: What colour would you paint the walls

  • I'd go with yellow.  We used this color with our dark wood in our condo that's called Bavarian Cream from Behr.  We've had lots of compliments on it.
  • I would used the sage green and the cream/ivory color in the pattern for the walls and then accent wall trim or picture frames, etc with the yellow/gold color(the giraffe in your pattern).
  • I like the Green that is in the set. We did our spare room in Benjamin Moore "Kittery point green" and it's very calming:

  • I would go with green as well.

  • I'd pull colour from the giraffe but maybe a shade lighter (I have the lamp they are too cute) and then have green accents in the room.

  • I found a picture of DS's room with similar colors that I had originally suggestedthat you could use  http://tinyurl.com/yzaylxl

With your's, I think you would need a brighter green though than what we chose( ours has more blue undertones)

  • brown, rust, sage , aqua,neutral ivory
  • Ooooh adorable bedding :)

I'm in the minority here. I think the sage might be a bit strong with the reddish brown flooring and may take away from the punchy colours in the bedding.

I'd do a light neutral, maybe in the yellows. If you do green, I'd make it a paler shade so the dark furniture can pop.

I wish I had my old laptop - it had a picture of DD's room and I think you would like it. I did "latte" coloured walls, with 2 thick vertical chocolate stripes (one on the long wall, and one by the door. Her bedding has some bright green and aqua and they just pop right out, plus our furniture is dark as well, so it'd give you a good idea. Lemme root around and see if I can find a picture

  • Thanks for all the comments ladies. DH wants to do green (as many of you suggested), I am worried it may be too bright though if we use the one on the bedding. I think we'll go buy one of the pieces to colour match a piece and get a better idea before we can pick the paint.

I guess it doesn't really matter (like baby will care, lol) but I want to find something we like and won't want to re-paint anytime soon.

I think the lamp is super cute too, but I don't want to buy a $70 lamp (or put it on my registry for someone else to buy). My plan it to pick up some cheaper plain lamps from Ikea and slap some of the decals on them, lol

I was worried the green might be too bright too...   if you do find a picture of Danica's room I'd love to see it!

Thanks for the pic Betty (I'm a visual person so the pics always help explain it) Looks like we both like safari animals Smile

  • I would go with a soft straw yellow, or cream colour, and then punch it up with other accessories. ?If you do cream, you could add a kiwi/sage colour rug, and say a plain lamp with a red shade. ?Then maybe a fun throw pillow on your glider too. ?

Try not to be too matchy-matchy with the set though!
