Vent: locked out!

I just got locked out of my house....grrrrrrr!  I had about 5 armloads to bring in after running some errands (dry cleaning, 3 pumpkins, etc.) and on the last load the door somehow shut behind me (maybe cat?)  My car was open and I had my phone, thank goodness, but no keys to car or house.  Called MH husband at work, and we agreed to call a locksmith.  $164 later.....I am in the house, with a mangled doorknob that now needs to be replaced (who knows how much more that'll cost!)  He was going to replace it, too, but when he got in, realized it is special kind of doorknob that he doesn't have the right size for (how he couldn't see this from the outside, I do not know).

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!  I am so mad at myself right now!  That was the money I was going to use to splurge on a CBEFM!  Now that'll have to wait.

Of, course, we realize NOW that it would have actually taken less time and be cheaper to take a cab the 1/2 hour each way to MH's work and back to get his key.  Boo!

Re: Vent: locked out!

  • oh that SUCKS!  I've done that before and it's SO frustrating!

And the prices for locksmiths are outrageous!  Crazy!

I don't understand what happened to your doorknob though - did the locksmith break it?  If so, he should be responsible for the cost to replace it.

    So sorry :(

  • Awww that sucks =( Like pp, I wonder if the locksmith should be responsible for breaking the lock? Hope your weekend gets better though!

  • That sucks!  I've never locked myself out of the house but I have locked myself out of my car TWICE and both times it was around $100 to have someone come and take 2 seconds to jimmy it open.  Ouchie.  I hate how locksmiths can charge so much!

I hope you had a good Saturday and hope that Sunday (today!) is even better!  Smile
