walk-in clinics

Does anyone know if there are any walk-in clinics anywhere in the State College area???  DH says he doesn't think there is.

When I lived in NY there were walk-ins you could go to when you were sick and your doctor wasn't open (or you didn't have a doctor), but when it wasn't ER serious enough.  I have been sick for 4 days now and it seems to be getting worse, so I thought this might be a better option than waiting till Monday....

TIA

  • If you got to the Geisinger doctors they have weekend office hours on both Saturday and Sunday. I don't know of any walk-in places around here.
  • I don't currently go to them, but am thinking of switching (waiting for DH to start his new job and therefore new insurance to make sure they are included)......anyone you can recommend?

  • What about just calling your doctor's number to get the phone number for whomever is on call for them?  I've done that before and it usually works out.

    Cancer sucks.
  • I tried that and just got an answering machine that said if this is an emergency call 911

    thanks though!

Right now I usually end up seeing a physicians assistant  or whoever is available when I need and appointment. When I went last time for an infection in my hand I saw Dr. Shunk and I liked him. DH actually went to that appointment with me and he really like him too and is thinking of switching from Center Medical group to him. I have an appointment this week with their OBGYN group so after that I'll be able to let you know what I think.

I'm pretty sure DH's SIL went to their OBGYN when she found out she was pregnant and throughout her pregnancy and she seemed happy with them, so hopefully you have the same luck, but let me know!

  • I go to Geisinger.  I really liked their OB/GYN group (only 3-4 doctors as opposed to 9 at CMSG) and for family practice, I usually wind up seeing the PA.  I don't know how long of a wait it is to see the doctor for family practice.  Oh, and I take DD to their peds as well, and we're very happy with her doctor.
