Hey Ladies,
For those of you who change your names after marriage, when you ordered your marriage certificate, which one did you order?
There are two options:
~ #1 seems to be the correct choice ($15)
~ #2 says it's a certified copy. Also seems like much more information than would be needed for name change issues ($22)
I just want to make sure I order the right one to use to change my name. TIA.

Re: Name change question
The first one is just your name and your husband's name. That one is fine when you have to change your name on your driver's license and other docs.
The second one is a certified copy of your marraige license. It's also good to change your name on your DL and other docs.
It doesn't really matter which one you need. The only time you really need the second one is if you are getting dual citizenship in another country. The embassy wants to see that one because it has your parents information.
HTH
If I am correct I believe either one will do;
it is just a matter of choice!
Sorry I am not more help! (I ordered the $22 one and 2+ years have has passed and I have yet to change my name...lol)
I ordered the $15 one, and it was all I needed to change my name on all my documents.
HTH!

When I went to get my marriage license the woman behind the counter advised me to get the 2nd one, but it was only because my husband was born outside of Canada. She said that that's what we'd need if we ever needed to validate our marriage in another country.
I got one copy of each (just in case... but maybe just so I wouldn't have to make a decision) and for anything in Canada I've only used the first one. If you do ever make an international move or apply for foreign citizenship you can always re-request the longer one.
Thanks for the help! I think I'll just order the first one when it is time. I was told we had to wait 3 months for the church to process all the info.
I suck and haven't been using my new name for anything!
