I don't know if any of you have heard of this, but supposedly putting an amber necklace on your baby when they're teething cuts the pain. I had heard of this but I'm generally really skeptical of this kind of stuff so I totally didn't believe it.
But hearing that Ethan might not be able to sleep because he was in pain made me desperate. We were giving him a ton of Advil and I figured it couldn't be good for him. So I started Googling alternative pain relief methods and once again came across the amber necklaces. They claim to also ease bone and joint pain, like in arthritis.
I was still skeptical, but I figured it was worth a shot. I bought one. Four hours after putting it on him for the first time, he fell asleep in his high chair while eating. Which is weird, because he never freaking sleeps, and had never ever just fallen asleep on his own before. But I thought it might be a coincidence and wasn't raving about the necklaces yet.
But it's been two weeks and he's consistently sleeping better. He went from waking up every 45 minutes to two hours to sleeping- get this- up to six hours at a time. Which is HUGE for him. HUGE. It's 11 right now and he hasn't woken up yet tonight. Last night he didn't wake up until almost 1:00 am.
The skeptic in me is still skeptical, but I thought I'd share my story anyway, in case anyone else wanted to try them. It could be a coincidence, but still.... I am wondering now...
Re: Amber necklaces for babies
DS at almost 4 yrs old is still a bad sleeper(up a minimum of 1-2 times per night) so I'd be interested in trying one. Where did you buy Ethan's from?
Recently I've also heard that the Hyland's Calm tablets which are sold at most health food stores work great for getting kids to relax enough to sleep better. I am planning on picking some of these up this weekend so I'll post areview once we've tried them.
We got ours from http://trueamberjewels.com/ but you can get them on other sites too I'm sure.
Yeah, we tried the Hyland's tablets (both the calming and teething) and a ton of natural "calming" herbal treatments given to us by a naturopath- none of them did anything for us.
