Just Married - changing your name?
Made it through the wedding, had a blast on the honeymoon and now home to cold weather!
Is there anything i need to DO to change my name?
Thanks!
Re: Just Married - changing your name?
Are you asking in general? You'll need to change it on your SSN, driver's license, banking/insurance docs etc. I'd start with the DL then SSN. The SSN is a PITA, make sure to set an appointment!
Um, yes. If you work, you'll need to change your name through HR. Passport, Driver's License, Social Security, frequent flyer cards, credit cards, bank accounts, magazine subscriptions. It can be pretty overwhelming. Start with DL and Social Security and make sure you are CONSISTENT.
I didn't need to make an appt for SSN, just showed up right when they opened and it took less than an hour.

Ugh. I had to go to the Madison office twice. The first time, they got so behind that the security guy sent everyone home. The second time I had an appointment and still was there over 2.5 hours!
I did SSN first, then DL. DL took 5 hours - bring a book.
What order you do your banking and all that after that is up to you.
