It's Official, I've lost my mind
We are officially exploring temporary guardianship of my older niece for next semester. If anyone has experience with this I would LOVE to hear it, since I am LOST!

No experience in that department, but I agree with Shoe, talk to a family attorney.
As for being held-back, we are having this conversation with a couple of my students. The first nine weeks of a school year are basically a repeat of what they did in the previous year. If a student fails the first nine weeks, they have already set themselves up to fail the year, because it is hard to pull up the yearly average if the first nine weeks is failed. She will need a lot of support to make sure that she doesn't fail, if she doesn't want to be held back.
