I don't book a lot of airfare so here's my question : I have a messy trip coming up with several destinations.
I'm going from dallas -> viriginia, virginia -> houston, houston ->dallas
I have the last two legs taken care of but here's what I am encountering with dallas -> virginia : the only non-stop flight into Norfolk is on AA. It's cheaper for me to purchase a two way ticket than it is for me to get a one way ticket. Is that possible? Also, if I do the two way ticket, do I just not show up or do I need to tell them?
Re: question about airfare
typically a two way tickets is a lot cheaper than a one way, probably just because they sell a lot less of them.
if you are planning on buying a two way ticket and only going one way, make sure the way you are going is the first leg of the trip. if you miss the first leg, they cancel your flight.
Yep I only need the first leg.
The problem is that I need to go from Norfolk to Houston and AA doesn't have a non-stop flight and I have to be there before 10am

If you are going to be in Norfolk there are a couple of other airports close, Newport News (probably 20-30 mins away) or Richmond (an hour to an hour and a half away). NN probably won't have direct flights but Richmond might. I don't know if that is helpful to you at all, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case
not sure if this is too late, but I'm pretty sure Southwest flies directly into Norfolk... you'd fly out of Love Field instead, but Southwest often has really good deals on one-way flights.
*edit* Assuming you are going to Norfolk... I just re-read OP and you didnt specify which city in VA! oops!
