This is what I ended up gettting

The Nikon D5000! I love it! It has so many features on it, I'm a little overwhelmed though. But I know it's something I can grow into for a long time. Like yours Melissa, it has HD video on it so that will be fun to try out. I'm trying to get the basics down this week before we leave Friday morning and I'm so excited! I feel like a "big girl" with my new grown up camera
I'm going to play around with it tonight and read a bit of the manual to get a feel for how to use this thing.
Thanks ladies for your suggestions, I really appreciate everyone's help

Re: F/U to my camera post...
*droooooooooool*
Can't wait to see pics from your trip from your big girl camera!
WANT.
I can't wait to see your pics!
I haven't taken a class, but I would LOVE to! This camera is fun, but I know nothing about it so I have a lot to learn
I'm sure it can be amazing, I just need to know the secret to make it that way
I wonder if there is an easy way to learn...anyone out there have any tips on the easiest way to pick up on using these things?
