We almost went to Bubbies last night but our friends decided they wanted to go somewhere else for dinner/dessert. I was actually looking forward to getting some mochi ice cream. I was so disappointed! Maybe tonight.
Re: :::eacerna:::
Was it better or worse than Mikawaya? There's a grocery store nearby that has a lot of stuff imported from Japan and they have a brand of mochi ice cream that I've never seen before. I don't think it's actually from Japan? I'm a little curious but eh, I don't think that anything will even come close to Bubbies so I'm not even going to bother.
It's raining here but your post the other day on FB has me craving purple sweet potato now and I'm actually thinking about walking to the store to go get some for tonight! I had no idea it was the same as ube. I remember seeing the ube ice cream at Dave's and thinking, 'Whoa, that's really purple!' and being kind of scared of an ice cream with such a bright vibrant color, lol. I've had sweet potato ice cream in Japan and it was actually pretty good!
Worse than Mikawaya and I didn't think Mikawaya was bad. The ice cream inside was kinda stale. Not sure if it's an old stock coz it seemed like the ice cream melted and refroze. I just looked at the box and it's a Japanese brand.
Go get the sweet potato! It's good for you and the bebe :-). I ate one sweet potato for breakfast today. I actually might experiment and make a purple sweet potato pie :-). I also had no idea until yesterday either that it was the same as ube and I have eaten ube all my life! lol. You should give the ube ice cream a try
