Topic of the day - What is home?
Where do you and your new hubby live? House, apartment, townhouse, condo? Do you rent or own? City or country? Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? Pictures are always fun!
Re: Topic of the day - What is home?
I don't have any pictures uploaded right now, but I think I've got some on the computer at home.
Matt and I bought our house 3 years ago. We live in the suburbs south of town right now and we're very happy there for now. We technically live in the county (we aren't annexed into any city) but that's fine with us because we were able to get a lot more house for the money. We have a 3/2 on about an acre with a one car attached garage and a 2 car detached carport. We love the layout, it's all open floor plan. The only rooms with doors are bedrooms and bathrooms.
We're planning on staying here for the next few years, and we may or may not sell when it's time to put the kiddo in school. We might move to a different neighborhood to get him or her into a good public school, or we may stay put and just use the private Christian school that's only a few miles away. Who knows!?!
We bought our house one month before the wedding. I'd never ever suggest that, it's a nightmare. I love the house [now] though, so it worked out, I was just super stressed at the time
It was built in 1978 and the prior owners went through and totally updated it, new windows, heaters, carpet, flooring, siding, everything. The only thing we need still are gutters, but I work for a company that does that, we just need to get it done. It's three bed, 2 bath and it's 1156 square feet. We love it. It's not a forever home, but it's a great starter!
You said pictures
Living room that we've since gotten a bigger, mounted tv, new couch and more curtains
Wedding corner
Those are our "guestbooks" on the wall and, we've gotten a new couch since these were taken!
I love how our house is soo colorful!
I collect shot glasses, if you couldn't tell ;P
Brett collects computers ;P He's got eight of them!
I love love love our flooring! It runs from the kitchen down the hall and in the bathroom
Our lawn was pretty much neglected, so it's slowly making a comeback. It looks 100 times better now. And the rose bushes looked amazing all summer long
After our HM, we had my parents, siblings, grandma and aunt over for dinner. We're saving for new chairs LOL

I forgot your questions, oops!
We own. It's in the city which is weird to me, I grew up one mile west of town, so it was culture shock in a sense. We have really great neighbors with the exception of the creatures across the street
But overall, it's very nice and quiet. We are here for at least three years, so we don't have to pay the tax credit back, but we've talked about staying five to seven to build up equity and save money for our "forever home".

DH bought the house in 2004 and I think it was built in the '80s. Some of the highlights of the house for me are that we have a formal dining room, eat-in kitchen, huge laundry room, lots of outside space for our dog, and plenty of space for our future kiddos. We're in a great school district and only about 2 miles from DH's work, so the location is great!
This is our forever home, so we've been doing small upgrades since I moved in (I moved in May....DH wasn't as motivated to do renos when it was just him there
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? House
Do you rent or own? Own
City or country? City
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? I'd love to move but we bought at the height of the market and would break even or lose money if we sold right now, so we are waiting a few years. The house is nice but I'd like a bigger house before we have children.
Where do you and your new hubby live? In a house.
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? House.
Do you rent or own? We own it.
City or country? Toledo, OH
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We're saving up for a big down-payment for our next home, which will likely be our forever home. We're aiming high and saving as much as we can for a really nice place in a nice area of town. Our goal is to be out of this house within the next three years.
We live in a townhome that we rent. H would consider it "in the city," (and honestly, it is) but we live in a college town, and I have most always lived walking distance to campus, so now that we don't I think of it as "out."
I LOVE historic homes, and we have decided to wait to buy until the right one comes along. We almost bought an antebellum home last week, but it needed to much work, and wasn't exactly what I wanted. We will keep waiting until the perfect Greek revival or federal becomes available.
The historic homes in Tuscaloosa are absolutely gorgeous! When Matt and I move we want to live in a historic farm house or plantation up in Cullman. I hope y'all get one soon!

Where do you and your new hubby live? We live in Augusta, GA
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? 2br/2ba condo with wonderful storage!
Do you rent or own? Because we are unsure of where we will be in the next few years, we are renting.
City or country? We live in Augusta which is the 2nd largest city in Georgia but it feels like a really small town (not as good as it sounds).
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We don't really know anything yet. Everything depends upon medical school acceptance for my H. I really hope that we will be moving back to Nashville if H gets into medical school there. Even while he is in med school, though, we will probably rent since we won't know anything about residency, etc.
Where do you and your new hubby live? House 3 bed/4 bath 1900 sq ft 2 story
Do you rent or own? We bought it about a month ago
City or country? City It's actually right next to DH's high school
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We just moved in and are planning on staying probably at least 10 years. We kind of skipped the starter home. We plan on moving when our kids are close to high school age (assuming we have 3, if it's only 1 or 2, we could be here longer).
This is from facebook so hopefully it works.
Our favorite room: the Husker basement

Where do you and your new hubby live? About 5 miles outside Washington, D.C., in Maryland
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? House, built in 1903
Do you rent or own? Own, bought last year
City or country? Suburbs but within walking distance of the Metro (DC subway system), so city-ish
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? Staying put for a while, slowly fixing the place up as time and money allow. Once we have a kid near school age we'll consider our next step, so that's a good several years away.
TTC #1 since January 2013
Where do you and your new hubby live? A quiet little town in central Massachusetts
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? A house --- it's an old converted schoolhouse that was built in 1848
Do you rent or own? Own, we bought it together in 2007
City or country? country-ish. We both grew up in a city and moved to the country when we bought our house. We love it!
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We are not moving for atleadt a few years. We want to start our family here and will stay until we outgrow it. Our neighborhood is perfect so even if we move it hopefully wouldn't be too far from where we are now.
Where do you and your new hubby live? Alexandria, VA, about 15 miles south of DC
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? House, built in 1958
Do you rent or own? Own. We bought it and moved in right before the wedding.
City or country? Suburbs
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We never know - home is where (and when) the Air Force sends us.
Where do you and your new hubby live? house

Where do you and your new hubby live? outside Reading, PA
House, apartment, townhouse, condo? apartment
Do you rent or own? rent
City or country? suburbs of a small city
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We have been checking out houses, but haven't seen anything that interesting. Mike's building will be relocated (within an hour's distance)sometime soon, so we'll wait to really look when we find out where it will be.
We bought a home about a year before the wedding. It's in a suburb of downtown Indianapolis. We wanted to buy an older home that had been updated a little, but we couldn't find anything that didn't need a ton of work. Plus, we ran into some sellers who just wanted way to much for their house-we were going to pay for their "sentimental value".
Here are some photos from when we first moved in and painted:
We live north of Charlotte, NC We bought a 2,500sq ft house in May of 2008 When H moved from Philly. We bought bigger for a family because smaller homes where the same price. We have 3 bedrooms and a bonus room. We love it, but wish we would have thought of placement. We live 15 to 20 min from a high way and 30 min from the city. The light rail was suppose to be built this year and is on hold. Over all we love owning. ( when we bought it a year ago)
We (actually DH) built our home about 6 yrs ago. We own it and I love it! We live in the country just 20 miles south of the metro area of the QCA. We live in a community called Fyre Lake. We have 4 lakes and they are building a new golf course on the opposite side of where we live. I'm not too thrilled about the course going in because all we get out of it is higher taxes and snooty neighbors! lol! But it is beautiful.
I don't have any pics, but here is the website:

And here is the website for the golf course:

It was a light peach and I said I refused to move in until it was painted. Our realtor also flips houses and helped me paint it! I love the color. I was going for a terracatta wine feel.
Where do you and your new hubby live? Apartment. I moved in 2 years ago and he joined me 6 months later when he moved from FL.
Do you rent or own? Rent, when a light bulb goes out I call the maintenance guy..ohh yeah! That and we cannot afford to buy a house in the area right now.
City or country? City, outside DC but not the burbs. We like it, especially since we don't have a car it is super convenient.
Are you planning on moving soon, did you recently move, or are you going to stay put for a few years? We may move if we decide to buy a condo or house in the next couple years. We probably won't rent forever but we have no plans to move in the near future. It seems like we just started making it a home after the wedding. When we start thinking about having kids we will probably try to get more space.
