I just got picked up by another project ![]()
Now for my story.
My grandparents have been married for 62 years, on their 60th wedding anniversary they received a letter from Her Majesty the Queen, congratulating them on their diamond wedding and how she is "quite pleased to be celebrating the same anniversary with Phillip this very year". They sent the orginal to Cate, we got it yesterday. I'm so excited that she will have this, it has the Queen's signature on it, it was addressed formally to my grandparents and given today's divorce rates not many people will see 60 years of marital bliss. One part of me is a little upset, I feel like they are trying to give her as many things as possible should anything happen to them, my grandad is 86 and my nannie is 83, they are her only living great-grandparents. I think I'm going to find a frame for it, to preserve it more than anything.
Well that's my cool story for the day, now I'm off to get this desk cleared off before I go to my new project in hopefully two weeks.
Re: Phew and a nice story
Great news Caro!!!!! I'm so happy for you!
How nice the Queen sent them a letter congratulating them on their anniversary. My grandparents have been married 62 years this month but haven't ever received anything from the President...hmm.
Oh wow, that is pretty cool.
And congrats on the new project!
Yay for getting picked up on a new project!
That's so cool about the letter! I know it's hard to accept something like that from your grandparents, but I think it gives them peace of mind too, knowing that Cate will have it. A few weeks after my grandma found out she had cancer, she gave me and my sisters her best jewelry - she gave me the diamond pendant my grandpa gave her (it was also the last Christmas gift he ever gave her and I always thought it was so beautiful). It was hard taking it b/c I knew why she was giving it to me - if she didn't give it to me then, no way in hell would my aunt give it to me later. I wear it every day and it's my favorite piece.
