Oil Cleansing Method

I just saw a post on another board about this (Oil Cleansing Method).  I'd never heard of it.

It's an interesting thought.  Obviously the person who wrote that instructional message realizes people FREAK at the idea of putting oil on their face.

Thoughts?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

  • I've actually thought about trying it but I haven't yet.  I hear that it works for a lot of people though.

  • I have read about it too and might be considering it...I am just worried that my skin will get worse and then I'll be worse off than I was to begin with.  My skin has been a wreck since going off BCP's (one year ago)!
  • I've heard of this too, if anyone tries it let me know how it goes.

Still cleaning related, the best cleaner for SS appliances is Olive Oil, it works like a dream and keeps finger print at a minimum for a lot longer than normal SS cleaner.  I'd also like to note, I hate my SS appliances, if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with black.

  • It makes sense. Declan's pediatrician has always told us to fight cradle cap (oily flaky scalp) we need to use oil. You get rid of oil with oil.

  • I was wondering what the heck that was.  I saw someone ask about it on H&F but no one said exactly WHAT it was for...and I'm too lazy to google half the time.

I'll do more research.  I've been using some Aveda skin clearing pads (Outer Peace something or other) and that's helped, but since switching from BCP to IUD my skin hates me.  After two rounds of Accutane in HS, I'm really sensitive to bad skin.  :(

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • The oddest thing is she says it should take off your mascara and EVERYTHING.  Nice in theory, but I tried olive oil once for eye makeup remover (something I read online.. don't laugh), and it was NOT good.  It got in my eyes and that effing SUCKS.

Considering my eyes are COMPLETELY broken out (not like zits, but somewhat puffy, itchy dry especially in the afternoon and mostly in the crease) and I've tried EVERYTHING to attempt to figure out what's causing it, I definitely am considering it.  I'd love to be able to have good skin again!  (I hadn't realized BCPs had helped even this much.)

I shouldn't complain - my skin isn't HORRIFIC, but man... dry patches here and there or breakouts.. just nuts.
