Getting married-- looking for reviews
Hey everybody! I've tried to get some advice on the Knot, but there don't seem to be many Baton Rouge ladies over there. This board seems to be a lot more active, so I was wondering if any of you might have experience with either the Gatehouse or Photography Shoppe for weddings.
I haven't booked either yet, and I am having serious trouble finding reviews. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Heck yeah it's the best! Someone smuggle boxed wine into L&D for me!
And I just remembered something about Gatehouse. I think (stressing the think part) that Karrey (another nestie) got married there. You can page her on the BR Bump board; she hangs out there sometimes.
I got married at the Gatehouse and I loved it! I have nothing but good things to say about them. Let me know if you have specific questions or want to see pictures.
Shoe is right - Karrey was married there also and her wedding was beautiful too.

Mrs. Spell, thanks for letting me know you had a good experience. We're specifically interested in the coordinator and the food. FI is having some trouble since food is super important to him but they don't do tastings until you book.
As for the Photography Shoppe, I have seen REALLY GOOD reviews, and REALLY BAD reviews. So I don't know what to think about them... but we met with the owner and got a great vibe.
Cheap wine is the best wine.

A good rule of thumb for wedding photography is to always interview at least 3 photographers. No matter how much you love #1, always talk to at least 3. You'll learn quickly in these interviews how things will be the day of the wedding and if this person is for you! GL!
I was a bit nervous about the food also since they don't do tastings but everyone raved about how good the food was for months! Plus, there was a ton of leftovers. They even made a to go box for DH and I that we munched on before catching our HM flight. The rest they packaged up for my mom and she swears they ate off that for a week.
The coordinator there was great. Everything ran so smoothly that I really didn't have to do a thing (which says a lot b/c I am a bit a a control freak!). After the ceremony she snuck me and DH a plate of food so we could catch a quick bite and made sure we had drinks. After that she would come now and then to let us know what was coming next which always put me at ease.
BTW Amanda Meyer was our photographer and she is beyond fabulous.

Well, I am taking the advice posted here and interviewing more photographers.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with Debbie Williams Photography, and just thought I'd see if anybody knows anything about them. It seems to be a very small operation, so I can't find any reviews online. However, they responded to my emails within an hour each time and seem like a very sweet couple.
I found mixed reviews about the Photography Shoppe, so I do want to look into other places before I decide. Now that we booked the Gatehouse (yay!) I feel like I have time to relax on the rest of my planning.
