How to backup itunes onto external hard drive?

I don't know why I can't figure this out, I have my documents and pictures on there but I can't figure out how to put my songs on there. My hd is MP3/itunes compatible so I know it's operator error.

Re: How to backup itunes onto external hard drive?

  • Navigate to the iTunes folder on your computer, then copy and paste it to your External HD. That's how I do it... there might be a way to do it from within iTunes, but I find that this works, too. GL!
  • I agree with PP...this is the best way to do it!

  • I would download something like SyncToy rather than copying and pasting.  This allows you to set up folders on your computer and folders on your hard drive for automatic syncing - it gives you plenty of options regarding if you want mirror images, hard drive to keep everything even if you delete off computer, etc.
