Good Fatty Foods

I've lost a lot of weight, 15 pounds to be exact and I really need to start putting it on, so crazy because if I wasn't pg I couldn't loose 15 pounds to save my life.

My OB is a little concerned but she said she will really get on me when we do the big ultra sound and they can do a weight on the baby.  So I need to start eating some fatty foods, I don't want to go crazy though like I did today and yesterday.  I've been eating a lot of gaucamole, I would normally eat salmon but I can't eat to much of that and past that nothing else seems to be what I want to eat.  I have a terrible sweet tooth but I need to limit my sugar.  My other issue is that I can't eat a lot at any one time, not sure why but I get full so quickly, this didn't happen with Cate until I was much further along like within weeks of me having her.

Any ideas?

Re: Good Fatty Foods

  • Avocado was my first thought.  You can put it in your salads, on sandwiches/tacos, in salsas. YUM!  I like it even plain on toast with a little black pepper and sprinkling of salt.

How about nuts?  Olives?  Flax (people has toasted it and eaten it with yogurt, in oatmeal, etc)?  All are small quantity foods for the fats you'd be ingesting.

ETA: A trail mix of sorts might work really well for you since you like sweet, but then you could put in whatever nuts you like (or find a mix with whatever nuts you like and say some dried cranberries, M&Ms, other dried fruits, chocolate chips, etc.)

  • what about nuts?

Or edamame? I always snack on those and they have the "good" fat.

  • sorry I posted before I saw Paula's so ditto on the nuts :)

  • Oh I forgot about edamame and I could keep some here in the freezer.  I've been eating avacado straight out of the shell, I've also been eating a lot of full fat yogurt.

Have I told you girls how much I missed this board when I couldn't post?

  • You could also try to eat more beef, if you do eat it at all.  It's a little higher in fat (and also calories.)
