Baby's size info...
Who do I get that from?
would my OB have that or would it be based off of a u/s?
I'm just wondering! It's would be nice to know if she's on the larger end of the 'average growth' or smaller end [wishfull thinking].
I just measured my belly - I'm going into my 27th week and it read 28 cm...I heard that it's normally a couple of cm off but it's close enough. Does that help determine the size of the baby?

The most accurate would be the measurement from an U/S but since you don't usually get an U/S done late in pg, they end up using the measurements that the OB takes at each appointment an approximate size. Using this method, they can sometime be off on size by 1-2 lbs, but usually they are pretty accurate.
With DS my OB guessed that he would be about 8-9 Lb when he was born and he ended up being 8.5lbs. With DS I always measured the correct number pg weeks.
With DD the OB again figured that she would be about 8-9lbs and she ended up only being 7Lbs. With DD I always measured about 3 weeks more than I was.
I never really found out until almost the end of my pregnancy and it was at an u/s when I was 41 weeks. My OB measured my belly at every appt like usual and since I was measuring exactly where I was supposed to be each time he guessed that my baby would be around 7lbs which was pretty close. But when I had the u/s the night before my induction, he measured her head and a couple other things I think to get a better guess. From that he got just about 7lbs and she was 7lbs 13oz when she was born.
From what I understand though if you're measuring bigger then your baby is probably a bit bigger. A friend of mine is pregnant now, about 24 weeks and she's measuring a couple weeks ahead so they told her that her baby might be 9lbs.
I don't have children so I don't have my own experience but my SIL was told off of u/s that my nephew would be around 8 pounds. After she delivered, the OB literally looked at my nephew and said 'sorry, but that's a bigger baby than we thought'. He was 10 pounds 5 ounces.
My SIL says she's glad she didn't know he was that big because she would have been freaked out and wanted a C-section (she DID deliver him vaginally...ouch)
So unless I have another u/s I'm SOL, right?

When I was overdue I got 2 u/s. In the first one (41w) they told me B was measuring like he was 38w. The MW guessed based on this that he would be well under 7lbs. He was born a 42w and weighed 8lbs 8oz.
So I wouldn't put too much stock in the u/s measurements either.
My midwife has guessed my baby will be between 8 and 9 pounds, but I think her guess is totally on my height and DH's height. I had an ultra sound on Tuesday and they didnt' say anything about weights. I honestly don't think they can really guess all too well.
Plus didn't we have a nestie a while back who was told she'd have a super big baby (like 10 lbs) and then ended up with a fairly average sized one (7 lbs)? Maybe I'm thinking of Nikki? Doesn't really matter - I don't think you can put much stock in it regardless.
And it's not like you can do something about it anyway. Baby will come when she feels like it at whatever size she happens to be at that time.
