MrsZiz

i'm sorry you never got to do maternity photos but you also got all that extra time w/your sweet little Bella.  we will get a few maternity pics to frame and put up in the house but it may or may not be in the nursey... if it's in the nursery it will probably be on a shelf...the way we have the nursery painted isn't very conducive to any kind of wall hangings... we decided to go with the last wall decal,  "a wee bit of heaven..."  - but i am waiting for it to arrive in the mail...after we put it up on the wall i plan to post pics of the nursery :)

i have part of my bag packed but not all of it yet!! i can't believe i am at this point now where it could be any day - eek!

Re: MrsZiz

  • I can't wait to see your nursery pics! What did you end up buying for your CD stash? DId you use diaper swappers? I've looked on there but haven't bought yet, any tips?

As for your hospital bag, there were only a couple things I'm SO glad I had: makeup (I only put on a little each day but it made me feel better), a sleep bra for nursing and cute comfy pjs for when visitors came, black yoga pants and a maternity shirt for the trip home.

Oh and while your there say you have sore nips and wondered if they had any soothies (gel pads) for your nips that you could try. They are $16 a pair at BRU but I got one pair at the hospital that I used for weeks! They helped a ton!

  • I have way too much for our CD stash - I got carried away :) but I feel better b/c I bought all of it at a discount since it was used... the only things I bought new were the thirsties duo covers, a sposoeasy, and a bottombumper b/c they were on sale

otherwise I already have orange, yellow, and red edge GMD prefolds and 2 snappis

i have a goodmama to try out and for AIOs/AI2s i have sposoeasy, bottombumper, bumgenius organic one-size, grobaby, very baby, and a thirsties.  interested to see what we end up liking best.

did you see my post below about buying used things on diaperswappers? (http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/24451693.aspx) in general i've had really good experiences buying there... and when there was any kind of issue most people were good about rectifying the situation by giving me a partial refund.  i only have one purchase where the diapers stunk---ewww.  i did not know this until i washed them though and when you open the dryer there is the most horrid smell in the world.  thankfully i just washed them another 3 times and it got rid of the stink but now i always make sure to ask if there are any stink issues w/the diapers being sold.  i also find that if you do a good search you can often find really old posts where they are willing to go down in price a lot b/c the diapers haven't sold.  otherwise there are sometimes just really good deals in general but you have to really stalk to the forums to catch them... for instance i got a bumgenius 3.0 AIO in XS to try that was new w/o tags for $7 including shipping once...and i got 4 xs sposoeasy diapers for only $28 and they were only used for about 4 weeks (they usually sell for about $14-15 each when they are excellent condition like that).  you just have to know what the going price is for things so you can snatch up a good deal when you see one.

i've also bought some diapers here too http://www.diaperpin.com/forum09/forum_topics.asp?FID=29

there is a lot less traffic on this forum so it can sometimes be easier to catch a deal before someone else does...or to negotiate prices b/c things don't sell as fast there

thanks for the tips - i have a nursing top and comfy fleece bottoms to wear and a nursing gown just in case i have to have a c-section.  i'll have to remember to ask about the soothies!! :)
