Dayton girls-- need an OB rec

I am looking to switch practices before my next pregnancy. I currently go to Dayton OB-GYN and am not happy with something that came up recently.

I would like a practice that has midwives (if anyone knows of any) and a practice that has delivering privileges at Kettering. Any ideas?

Re: Dayton girls-- need an OB rec

  • I go to Sunita Reddy & she is located in the physicians office building attached to the hospital.  I am not sure about the midwives though but I have been very happy with Dr. Reddy. I can't speak to the others in the practice because I have only ever seen her. GL.

  • I really like Dr. Patel with Oak Creek OB-GYN.  Not sure about midwives, but I know she is associated with Kettering.
  • One of nursing friends is pregnant with baby #6 and uses a practice with mid wives- not sure where she will be delivering or where their privileges are. I'll ask her when I talk to her sometime this weekend!

  • At Kettering, I saw Dr. Altman and switched midway through pregnancy because I didn't care for him.  He is in the practice that Rachel mentioned.  Everything with him seemed very impersonal, and except when my husband came to a couple of appts, he literally backed out the door while asking if I had any questions, and made it feel like he didnt want to deal with it, just wanted in and out.  I have heard good things though about the doctor Rachel mentioned.  I now go to MVH and use Dr. Horlacher, but you're looking for Kettering so that won't help you much!  I hope you find someone you like!

ETA:  The Midewin Center in Vandalia has midwives, and I think an OB (Dr. Guy I think).  I don't know where they deliver, but it might be somewhere to check out.

  • Shoot, my doctor is at MVH and I'm not sure if they have midwives or not.  Still interested in hearing about the midwifes though!

  • Thanks, ladies. Actually, Dr. Horlacher is someone I've heard a lot about. Does anyone know if he has delivering privileges at Kettering?
  • This may be a little silly & i was going to add this last night but completely forgot. I go to Kettering Hospital all of the time for work & I actually ran into her when I was over there. Mind you I only see her for my yearly exams and she came up to me and knew me by name.  I think she really cares about her patients.

I have no idea, but the office staff probably can tell you.   I really can't say enough good things about him.

  • I too have heard great things about Dr. Horlacher, esp if you want a med-free birth.  It sounds like he's focused on what the mom wants even if you want all the drugs you can get.

I actually had 2 bad experiences (as did my friend who saw her) with Dr. Reddy....she just seemed to talk down to me like I was an idiot and was just not very friendly all around.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Altman at the same practice. LOVED him. I had him from the very beginning of my pregnancy and he delivered DD (an induction) and he was wonderful. I have several friends who all go to him as well and all love him as well.

Huh, that is interesting about Dr. Altman.  I liked him well enough personality-wise, but every time I went in there during my pregnancy, he really rushed me to get out and acted like I was holding him up when I 'd ask a question.  My appointments were rarely ever more than a few minutes long too, so it's not like I was asking a million questions.  I'm glad though that you like him!
