just ripped out the garden :(

I have a TON of hot (serrano I think) and jalapeno peppers and tomatoes. I can't believe how many tomatoes four plants gave us (two roma and two beefsteak). It really just didn't stop and DH made several big batches of salsa with them too.  I can't wait to plant some new things next year hopefully if the yard isn't too ripped up if we end up doing the pool. I tried to transplant the mint inside so we'll see if that keeps. I didn't know you were supposed to plant it inside a planter since it takes over the garden so I had to only take like a third of it to get it down to a manageable size. I'm glad it's nice out again this weekend. I am not ready for winter.

Re: just ripped out the garden :(

  • You can freeze the peppers. I have several bags of various hot peppers from our bumper crop the other year. I just tossed them in baggies fresh from the garden and labled them. Dh takes them as  he needs them. Some of them will also dry well and you can use them in a grinder. That's great too for seasoning soups and winter dishes.

The mint, what is left outside, will most likely regrow next year. it really takes over and will usually keep coming back no matter how much or often you pull it out.
