Suggest a phone for verizon

Are there any Verizon phones that are out that are similar to a smart phone but aren't? I want the organization of a smart phone/Blackberry but don't want to pay the extra 50$ a month for Internet.

Re: Suggest a phone for verizon

  • I have the LG enV Touch and I really like it.  I don't believe you need to have a data plan for it and if you do, it's only for the first month and then you can drop it.  It's not considered a smart phone, but it has a lot of functions.
  • Im not much help. I have the blackberry curve but I pay $30 a month. I actually downsized our plan to less minutes because most of our friends and family are verizon customers. So we only ended up paying an extra $7 a month. DH has the LG voyager and loves that. He can get the internet on his phone and we dont pay extra.

  • Does the EnV Touch naviagate the internet well? Do you like it?

I had a touch screen when they first came out and hated it. But it's been several years... is it time to try it again?

  • If you want it to use it for the internet all the time, I wouldn't recommend it.  It's kind of slow and awkward.  If you want to have it to be able to look things up once in a while it's fine.

I really like the touch screen.  I've had no issues with it on the enV Touch.  It does open up with another screen and a qwerty keyboard, plus the touchscreen has a qwerty keyboard if you turn the phone to landscape.

My DS has the enV 3 and really likes it.  It's essentially the same as the touch without the touch screen.

Before my blackberry I had the samsung glyde. That touch screen was horrible. It always froze or it would constantly get stuck on one button. I think the touch screens are now better. They are less sensitive.

  • I recommend the enV Touch too. Like you, I didn't want to have to pay for a data plan, and you don't have to get one with it.

It's good for texting and short messages since it has a full keyboard. I don't use it for the internet currently.

  • I switched from a BB to the enV3 and I really like it. However, I never ever get online with it. IMO, verizon's software is just not usable for anything online. I now have a work BB that replaced my storm.

You can get a windows mobile smartphone without a data plan, but you won't be able to get online unless you have one that's wifi capable. I don't even know if any of them are, actually.

    GL!
