New NYC dweller...question about A Train!

Hi ladies!

I just got married and moved from Connecticut to NYC!  I am living up in Washington Heights and hopstop said something about the A train stopping earlier than my stop and taking a free "Broadway Shuttle"

Anyone in Washington Heights/Inwood know about this/can I just hop on a bus labeled Broadway Shuttle at most stops and take it to the A trains' end?

Thanks!

Re: New NYC dweller...question about A Train!

  • Yes, that sounds about right. If the train isn't running usually there is a shuttle bus to make up for the missed stops. You can also check out the MTA's website for more specific service advisories. It might have just been the time that you put into hopstop's site. (Like, at 11pm - if the train is not running late nights - hopstop will take that into account).

  • I live in Wa Heights too.  The A train rarely runs on the weekend so there is always a shuttle bus from the last stop in Inwood to 168th Street.  It's a pain, but hopefully someday it will go back to normal.

There are 2 different shuttle buses when this happens.  One that runs on Broadway and one that runs on Ft. Washington.  Be sure you get on the right one when you exit the 168th Street station going back uptown.

    Welcome to NYC!

  • P.S. We also got married in CT and had our reception at the Heritage in Southbury in 2004.
  • NY Girl that is so funny!  same venue and everything! :)

Thanks for the advice!  maybe some day we can have a nest get together so I can make some NYC friends!
