Looking for good location to go for 1 night hotel stay...

On a whim I went to North Conway with my mom and two little boys to just get away.  We loved it because we for once just stayed in the hotel and used the onsite facilities.  My 3 year old loved the pool and the buffet and I'd love to do that again with my hubby and the boys for just a random night.  I book on priceline to save some cash.  But I'm thinking I should try some other place other than North Conway.  I don't want to drive too far for only one night's stay, so perhaps someone can suggest a cute town to go to?  I could do the Cape I guess.   Or Newport?  Any thoughts?  I'll be pricline-ing it too.

  • I love going to Newport; Ogunquit, ME; or Killington, VT for short weekend trips.
  • Check out Mystic, CT. They have an aquarium for the kids.
  • Super close to Kingston, you could go to the John Carver Inn in Plymouth.  They have a fun indoor pool for kids.  On the North Shore, Newburyport, Gloucester, and Rockport are great towns to visit.  I'm not sure what they have available for hotels though.  Salem is good and has some bigger hotels but I would wait a few weeks for the Halloween stuff to taper off.

I second this. The Mystic Aquarium is supposed to be really good. There are probably cider mills around the area too, which would probably be fun for the boys.
