... and some of these sites I actually use to, you know. DO MY JOB.
Part of our company's annual plan is to increase community involvement. So my division decided that as web admistrator, I should find upcoming community service events, and other community events that our members could participate in, and post them on our site.
And apparently the brilliant minds of our Systems Security team, and/or their higher-ups decided that pretty much every community calendar I can think of is "not appropriate for business use", as reads the message that pops us when I try to access them.
Seriously? Were too many people spending too much time finding community events to participate in? So much so that you felt the need to block the sites? I can't imagine.
And if they were, did anyone ever think that maybe they were doing so because one of the company's objectives for this year is to increase community involvement? Duh.
I'm so peeved right now. Can't wait to see what else the dumba**** blocked.
Re: Grrrr... work blocked more than Facebook...
My work just did the same thing - facebook, and yahoo even. It really sucks... A lot of my coworkers use those and sometimes even youtube or random websites, for work. Now each person has to get permission for each website they want.
Seems like an awesome use of time to me!
Welcome to my daily life......
You do know that you can appeal the decisions by sending the specific web addresses and a rationale for using them to your IT department and they can add an exception to the web filter, right?
