AW re our Mortgage

Since our refinance last December, we have knocked off 25 mortgage payments in less than a year.  ( I know it doesn't sound like a lot but if we keep at this pace, and have our house paid off in 10 years, thats about $190,000 saved in interest)

Re: AW re our Mortgage

  • Thats awesome Melanie :) Congrats!
  • Thats amazing Mel!! Yay!
  • Yay!  Hey it all adds up in the end.  We re-fi'd too and it was nice to drop a whole % and save all of that interest in the long run.
  • In one respect is sucks not throwing as much into savings as we would like but in the grand scheme of things, savings account interest rates suck and it's better to put a little extra each month into the mortgage, ultimatley it's acting like a future savings for us.

Jen, we pretty much kept paying our "old" rate plus some.  So this is actually based on the refinanced rate. I should have DH plug in what it would have been at our old rate.  (Yes we are accounting nerds and have a mortgage amortization spreadsheet(

  • That's great Mel!  I'm proud.  :)

I'm so glad we bought the new house when interest rates were low.  we're trying to pay it off in 10 years (15 year mortgage).  It's crazy how much you can save.

Same with us!  We pay the amount prior to when we refi'd.  Like I said, it all adds up.

  • That's wonderful news!  I hope you can continue at the pace you are on and pay it off fast!
