I thought I would move up our post because I forgot about it and then couldn't find it in my posts! So why do you think your foremilk/hindmilk is messed up in the bags? How long were you pumping? BM is good in the freezer for 3-4 months. What we do is send frozen milk to daycare and each day I pump at work, I freeze that. That way we can use all the milk before it expires. Right now I have a bunch of milk in the freezer so we're going through the stuff I pumped in early September now. Bella's doing awesome at her aunt's house, or so they tell me
She's taking the bottle ok. It seems like when I've had a day off, the next day at daycare is hard for her to take the bottle. She'll only take an ounce or so, it's like she snacks... kind of like she's waiting to see if she really has to take it! Because on days I go to yoga, I'm home in 3 hours so she'll take one bottle of maybe an ounce or two. I'm pumping 3-5 oz each time (both breasts) so I know when I go to yoga she doesn't take a full feed. Like I said, I think she waits for me. She's doing better on sleeping too!! I'm so excited about that. I had a couple breakdowns in the past 3 weeks about me not getting enough sleep. I was exhausted, crabby and not feeling good. We transitioned her to the crib and she sleeps for 5 hours for the first long sleep and then the rest are about 3 hours, but that's WAY better!! I'm sleeping better too with her in her bed. I LOVED co-sleeping and we still do it after her 4am feed but I just wasnt sleeping that sound. So now I can sleep sound and as soon as I hear a peep on the monitor I wake up but now she's much quieter. We also started swaddling again, she hated it for a couple months so we stopped and now she LOVES it when she sleeps. Now she's napping all swaddled in her blanket and she's in her crib. As far as daycare, google questions to ask them. Ask for referrals, do a drop in (unannounced) and take Ashton one day to see how they react to him. Otherwise just ask your questions and go with your gut. Keep me posted on everything and keep working with the bottle, he'll get it in time!I'm off to the basement to workout. I still have the tummy pudge and I hate it!! I haven't weighed in forever for fear of depression for me!
I don't want to know but I'm sure all the candy I've been eating is NOT helping!
Re: **Renee**
Hey Sarah!
I have to nurse Ashton one side for about 3 hours since I have an issues with the hind milk. I just worry I don't pump enough from each side before I store the milk. At least, that was how I was storing when I first stated pumping before I knew my issue.
I am so happy to hear that Bella is sleeping longer for you. Ashton is the same, 4-5 hours when I first put him down, then 2-3 hours. As soon as we get back from x-mas vacation in MD, I am going to try and transition Ashton to his crib. We are fine right now, but I feel bad that Adam is sleeping on the couch every night. I do love "my" time with Ashton during the night, but I think he would sleep longer stretches if he was not in the same room as me (so he can't smell me). This is so weird, but I also started to swaddle Ashton again and he is fine with it!! I swaddle him when he first falls asleep and I lay him in the co-sleeper. Once he wakes, I un-swaddle him so that he can nurse and sleep in bed with me.
Ahh, daycare. My girlfriend is visiting me this week and she is helping me. She found all these great websites for nannies, etc. I'll see how much they cost. I would rather have more one on one time for Ashton than not. We'll see. Thanks for the advise.
I wish I could get my butt in gear to work out. I have that extra pouch from the c-section scar. I am doing weight watchers and I bought that DVD, "30 Day Shred" by Jillian Michaels since I have heard nothing but great reviews, but it is still in it's original package. I just don't have the energy. We have been walking for a few days which Ashton seems to enjoy more since i moved him to his big boy seat from the bassinet. I think he likes it because he can see more. Ashton is one nosey baby.
Gosh, I could keep going but my friend is here and I don't want to be rude:-)
How do you know you have issues with hindmilk? I would have no idea how to even know if I did... Bella seems full...
So why is Adam sleeping on the couch? Does Ashton keep him awake? I told Ryan that he could either sleep in the spare bedroom, Bella and I could sleep in the spare bedroom or we could all sleep together and he could just learn to love it... he learned to love it I guess or maybe he just got used to it.
She's doing great sleeping in her crib. I think it's better for me because I sleep more sound and she sleeps better all swaddled up in her crib. I think because when she was co-sleeping she would nurse all night long, no joke! She would curl up next to me and nurse and then pull off and then nurse again... my boob was just out there for her (weird I know but that was just easiest!) and then every few hours I'd flip over to the other side and move her over so she could nurse on the otehr side... it worked. Now that she's in her own crib when she wakes up I go in, unswaddle her, change her diaper, nurse her unswaddled, burp her, change sides and nurse more then when she's all done, I swaddle again and put her back in the crib. About 4am, I pull her into bed with me... I do kind of miss co-sleeping
Something I said I would NEVER do but I did and I'm glad I did.
Good luck with nannies!! I think that would be awesome if you can afford it. It's pretty expensive here. If that doesn't work, you could try finding a stay at home mom that wants to make some extra money and could care for Ashton with just her kids... maybe even a SAHM with kids in school. Just a thought. Network when you go back to work and I'm sure people will have suggestions for you.
I don't have the energy really to work out either. I'm going to weigh myself today and then once a week when I'm at work. It will keep me accountable for not gaining at least! I can't work out after work so I try to do something on my days off. At least you have the nice weather there. Bella LOVED being in the moby and going for walks outside. We also would put her in the stroller with it flat and she liked that. She hates the car seat in the stroller. Bella is SUPER nosey too!! She loves to look around and see what's going on.. it's like she wants to be part of the action. Just like her momma!!
Have fun with your friend and keep me updated
I love hearing what's goign on with you guys since our babies are so close in age!
