Has anyone gotten it?
A dr office has offered to come give the shot to everyone at my firm. I think I'm going to do it since my nephew has come down with H1N1. I haven't been around him lately but I figure better safe than sorry at this point.
Re: H1N1 Vaccine
No, not doing it.
I feel like the vaccine came out a little two quickly. I know the flu shot is new every year but there isn't as much pressure for it. Does that make sense?
It does. I felt the same way at first but my MIL is a nurse and she and I talked about it for over an hour on Saturday and she calmed my worries about it.
Agreed entirely. Also, I never get the regular flu shot, am in pretty good health, keep pretty good hygiene (I wash my hands thoroughly and regularly and avoid touching public property. When I do, I now make more of an effort to wash my hands again or use hand sanitizer.)
I also don't see a real need for me. I have no kids, MH and dog can fend for themselves if I were to get REALLY sick, and I have ample sick time. From what I've seen/heard, it doesn't tend to hit adults as hard as kids. And I'm not in a high risk category.
Like Stacy said, they aren't offering it here for some time. A few local schools were supposed to offer it this week and next to their students, but that has been cancelled because WI can't get enough to even cover the healthcare workers they're forcing to have it, let alone the high risk categories (children, diabetics, etc.) So by the time it gets here, it'll be December.
I agree with Mel especially after talking to my mom and SIL who are nurses. Neither of them suggest it because of all the accelerants (sp?) put into it and the speed in which thet got it out. Plus people that got the swine flu shot in the 70's have just recently been reporting health issues and they believe it's from the shot.
No i still havent seen it and thats one of the major problems I have with it. I also spoke with my nurse yesterday about how the media is exploding this and creating such a chaos especially where i was at yesterday. I spoke with some nurses in my family who are for it and just told me to be aware that they do make one without thermasol in it so thats what im hoping to get if it ever becomes available.
I got mine this week at Cate's ped's office, the risks of me not getting it far out way those of me getting it. Cate will also be getting hers Next Friday, I've done a lot of research, it helps that I worked in the bio-tech industry for years.
