A good friend of mine is expecting and lives in NYC and needs recommendations for everything. Are there any websites or blogs you love? In particular, they live in a small condo so she is trying to figure out what she actually needs to register for. Her suburbanite moms try and tell her she needs many items that fit in their homes, but will not work for city living. How about good blogs and sites on classes she can take, and any other tips on raising baby in the city.

FYI Big city moms sells their mailing lists.
You really don't need all that much stuff when you have a baby. Things I found essential were some kind of sling to carry the baby in (and now that she's older/bigger I use the Ergo), somewhere for the baby to sleep, lots of diapers and clothes for frequent blowouts, bottles (even if breastfeeding), and swaddling blankets.
I had a swing which my daughter hated and a bouncy seat, which she also didn't care for, but it's good to have something to put the baby in when you need to brush your teeth or use the bathroom and need your hands free.
The BuyBuyBaby is great in the city. Also, one thing I did which was wonderful was join a new mom's group once I had the baby. They were run by a social worker who is also a mom and I made a great group of mom friends who were all going through the same things at the same time. The group I joined was from here: http://www.momsupport.org/ but there are many to choose from all over the city.

This is a mom who lives in the city and always has good advice for small spaces. She was at a Big City Mom's event I went to.
