MH and I just renewed our subscription to NetFlix. (Now that the weather has turned all crappy in the PNW, we plan to do a lot more hibernating). One of our favorite things to do is get entire seasons of TV series on DVD and watch them marathon-style.
Our faves are shows like The Sopranos, Dexter, The Office, Family Guy, Oz, Big Love, and others. We've already watched a ton of the HBO and Showtime TV shows, but not so much network TV.
What shows do you recommend?

Definitely Mad Men! It started out great and just keeps getting better. Other network shows we love and watch repeatedly on DVD are Lost and Arrested Development. 30 Rock is hilarious! Psych and Chuck are cute, funny shows.
You mentioned HBO shows, but not The Wire. If you haven't watched it yet, it's a must see. One of the best TV series of all time.
Cerclage placed @ 21w6d due to CI (IC)
We have all the seasons of House on DVD, and love to watch them together.
Not on DVD, but just regular TV now....Glee rocks my world!!!
Seems like I am joining in the consensus with MrsDarling, Beachbubbles, Liubride and S&D2HI with Mad Men!!! You just can't say enough about it, everything is so brillianlty done!
The Office the original English version with Ricky Gervias, it's awesome especially if love british humour. My hubby is really into FlashForward, but I haven't got into quite yet.
I just thought of a couple of more
Big Bang Theory, How I Met your Mother, Cougartown which are comedies and then The Mentalist.
Ah, we just started watching Mad Men!! We started with the Netflix of Season 1 last week, and we really, really like it so far.
Other than that, I would most certainly echo the post about The Wire. Hands down, The Wire is the best tv show in the history of TV. It's better than 95% of all movies. I'm not even kidding. If you haven't watched it yet, then I am jealous of you. DH and I watched all 5 seasons all the way through and then started over again from the beginning and did it all over again. It can take an episode or two to get into and figure out what the hell people are saying and who is who, but once you start you will be hooked.
We just finished an oldie but goodie, Twin Peaks. We are both David Lynch fans but I guess we were just too young to watch the show when it originally came out. It is very, very good. Only two seasons.
Arrested Development is wonderful too, if you've never seen it.
Both versions of The Office are great, and we've also Netflixed Extras, which is Ricky Gervais' other show, which is hilarious.
Friday Night Lights is supposed to be good - I want to start that when we catch up with Mad Men.
Have to second Big Bang Theory. We LOVE that show!
I second Mad Men and Arrested Development - two of my favorite shows ever (especially AD - I can't begin to describe how much I love this show!).
I also like Big Bang Theory (I relate to Sheldon a disturbing amount), and the original Brit version of The Office is hilarious (and so embarrassing). House is good - formulaic, but good. Another show that I adore that is a lot less mainstream in the USA is Top Gear - it's a British show about cars, which I know sounds insanely boring but is AWESOME. Seriously, I never miss an episode - I even have one of their special episodes (the Africa one - see if you can find it) on DVD! Six Feet Under is, of course, no longer on the air but was a GREAT show and has possibly the best finale episode that I've ever seen.
I'll be the sole voice of dissention about The Wire. I've tried watching it. I really, really have. It does NOTHING for me. Same with Weeds. Nothin'.
Someone mentioned Dexter - I've been trying to decide if I should watch this. Anyone care to talk me into it?
P.S. I'll give up my husband's dark, dirty secrets and mention that one of his absolute favorite shows is Gossip Girl. Yes, the show marketed to teenage girls. He loves it. Go figure!
Oh my Lisa...my husband (who is a gamer) totally relates to Sheldon, too funny. I have to ask him, most of the time what his shirts mean, because I have no clue. Apparently there is a website of all his shirts. The humour in that show, BBT is awesome!
Like Ben, my hubby also likes GG and we both think "Chuck" totally rocks! When the OC was on, that was one of his favourites and he still watches the reruns. The music soundtrack for the series is incredible!
Dexter, we are totally fans. If you like dark, twisted and gorry tied in with slight humour, this show is definitely for you. It has changed a little since it first aired on HBO, but still good nevertheless.
LOL yes! It's kind of a bad show in a way (it's not particularly deep lol) but it's VERY entertaining!
OMG! I had no idea there was a website - I LOVE his shirts! *off to look now*
HELLO!?! No one has mentioned the best show yet... HBO's "TRUE BLOOD"!!!!
Also addicted to "Flash Forward," but you can watch all of those episodes for free with On Demand/Fios.
Plus we love "24" ... And "Heros"!!!

We're finishing up season 2 of LOST. Ya, I know, we're WAY behind. We're the only humans on this earth that didn't get into this show. But now we're hooked. After this is all done, 'someday', we will move onto Dexter.
While at Blockbuster one day, a number of people were trying to talk us into the show. They raved about it.
*cough* I don't watch vampire stuff. Just on principle. Except for Buffy.
