Eligible for an upgrade at Verizon...

I'm eligible for an upgrade at Verizon but I'm on my parents plan and really want to get off of it - is this the best time to cancel my contract? Anyone know what's the best way to do this? My SIL tried when she was also up for an upgrade and they totally tried to screw her with fees.

Advice is very much appreciated.

P.S. I am going to switch to ATT after I cancel Verizon

Re: Eligible for an upgrade at Verizon...

  • You need to call Verizon and find out when your contract is up.  Just because your are elibile for a new phone doesn't mean your contract is up.  I'm in the same boat.  I was eligible for a new phone in June, but my contract isn't up until Nov.  I'm switching to ATT also, but if I switched 2 months ago like I wanted it would have cost me $70 to get out of my Verizon contract early.
  • thank you! I'm calling right now...
