  It's hard to tell what you would consider affordable as everyone has their own definition of that word.  I would consider an affordable camera as one that provides me with the best image and product build quality for the money, but others would claim it has a specific price point based on the item.  Also, it depends on the type of HD video that you want to record.  Do you want 1080P, 1080I, 720P, or something that simply shoots video at a higher resolution but does not necessarily have a wide screen aspect ratio (which HD does).  I would say your best bet would be to have a few more criteria to limit your request.  An excellent place to start this search on NewEgg

  We have an HD flip video camera. They are very compact and easy to use. Its absolutely nothing fancy but it works for us! Plus we love that you can just plug it straight into your computer! Its only 200 bucks on Amazon.
