The Garden -- noise level??

Hey all,

DH and I went to the Celtics opener on Wednesday (Go Celtics!) but it was deafening. I admit I have medical problems, ear problems among them, but I went to a game last fall and last spring at the Garden and it wasn't this loud. DH says that's it because where we are sitting. The first time we were very close to the court and the second time we were very close to the ceiling. This past Wednesday, we were in the middle. DH said we got the worst of both worlds and also, the opener's louder.

Question: does anyone know if they really do make it louder for the opener?

Second question: does where you're sitting actually make a difference?

TIA so much!

Jillian

Re: The Garden -- noise level??

  • I don't know how much your seat location has to do with it but I'm sure it's much louder during the opener because it's so exciting. Maybe you could take earplugs with you next time..?
  • I have to agree that the noise level in the garden definitely seems to have gone up this year.  We were at both the home openner and Friday night's game and each was significantly louder than any of last season's games (or this year's preseason games), and we had the same approx seats each time.  Let's hope its just an openning week type thing... because it did rise to unpleasant levels.
