Just saw Paranormal Activity

Did anyone see it? What did you think? I liked it a lot, but it was not as scary as I thought it would be.  I think because everyone talked it up so much - on Z100 they had people calling in every morning to talk about how scary it was, people were saying they were crying and that they had to leave the movie theater.  So, I was expecting to be scared out of my mind.

I was scared, but no more than normal for a scary movie.  It was very Blair Witch-esque, but better and scarier than that.

Re: Just saw Paranormal Activity

  • I can't do scary movies. I think that means this movie is a no-go for me. For sure.

I definitely know what you mean about the media blowing up movies. In the end, I always feel a bit let down when movies get over-hyped in the press.

  • I saw it also, and it was creepy in the theatre, but not scary for me.  However, I do get creeped out when DH isn't home and I have to go to bed...I can hear the people above me and I have to keep reminding myself that it's people, not strange demon things!

We have a semi-attached house, and the first night I was in it alone, I thought for SURE we were either being robbed, or it was haunted, because I could hear footsteps clear as day on my stairs.  I quickly realized that, since our hall stairs are lined up with the neighbor's stairs (those are the walls that are connected, their house it the exact oppposite of ours), when they go up and down it sounds almost like they are going up and down OUR stairs. Some nights it is so loud that I look up fully expecting to see either DH or a ghost walking down towards me.

Whatever, I'll take a ghost any day over that demon from the movie! Yikes!

  • I haven't seen this but I had the same kind of reaction to Psycho. Everyone talked about how scary it was and that they were afraid to take showers, etc. but when I saw it, I was not very scared at all. I think it was still a great movie but I was not very scared by it.
