Bread making fail

I tried to make my first loaf of fresh bread tonight, but sadly it did not rise properly.  I threw it in the oven anyways, and it just looks like a lump of dough that was cooked.  Ehhh.  I will have to keep trying.  Embarrassed

Re: Bread making fail

  • Aw, that's too bad.  Try, try again!
  • Aww, that's too bad.  I tried making pretzels a few weeks ago and they didn't turn out that well either; just weren't very flavorful.  Good luck with the next batch though!

  • I am thinking of investing in a bread machine.  I need to research it a bit more.  I am always so disappointed when I try something new, and it does not work out.  Rock-did you try to make soft pretzels or hard pretzels?
  • Awww bummer! I hate when things don't work out- what recipe did you use?
  • Aw, that sucks, I had some muffins basically explode all over the place a couple of weeks ago, they looked pathetic, lol..

It was a recipe I found on foodnetwork...I think it is totally my fault though....I don't blame the recipe!  Ha ha ha.

  • That sucks :( I made really awesome lemon poppyseed muffins today but then I tried to make corn muffins for DH and they didn't rise at all and were like corn crackers. I failed too.

I was trying out this supposed Auntie Anne's-style pretzel recipe that I got from somewhere and it so did not turn out like them.  They were edible, but very doughy and just not very flavorful.

Our bread machine is great though, I'd recommend getting one.  Need to try some of the fancier recipes in it though.  It's DH's machine from way back when so he usually makes the bread; I just enjoy :)

  • That's always disappointing!  When we tried to make bread awhile back, we did several different "test" loaves and varied the ingredient measurements in three different loaves so we had at least one loaf that was marginally edible, or three that failed in different ways!

I would definitely try again, nothing beats homemade bread!

  • Aww, try again! Bread is really hard to get right, don't give up just yet.
