Churchill downs question

Ok, either I am a complete idiot or their website isn't very informative. I have never been to Churchill and I am taking DH there as a surprise for his birthday. I have been to Keenland and didn't have seats and swore I wouldn't go back unless I had seats next time. so.... can you get seats for Churchill? Their website only says general admission for $3.00 it doesn't really list anything else other than group options. I don't want to sit in the clubhouse, I just want seats in the grandstands where we can watch the races. Can someone who has been there before help me out a bit?

Re: Churchill downs question

  • I've only been there once....we paid the $3 at the gate and yes we had seats. We could just sit wherever we wanted!

  • We had seats and they were marked specifically for the Hyatt where we got them from.  There seemed to be other seats that were open, like at Turfway where you can just sit wherever.

I think we are going to stay at the Hyatt too, how did you get their seats? Did you just ask? I tried asking if they had any special packages or anything but the reservation lady thought I was speaking a foreign language.

  • When I checked in the guy was asking me all kinds of questions about what we had planned.  I told him we were going to Churchill the next day so he gave me 2 tickets.

I would just ask them if they have any discount coupons when you check in.  Hopefully if the seats aren't already in use you can use them.  HTH.  Have fun!
