Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. Ontario mamas - Parental leave questions for you!
For those of you who have had to apply for your EI benefits...I have some questions.
I'm trying to apply and I'm so confused! The benefits girl in my HR department has been no help either.
For the 17 weeks of pregnancy leave (that's on top of the 35 weeks parental leave) - does EI just automatically start paying you for that? I can't find anything about having to apply for it, other than submitting my request for leave to my employer.
Also, when do you apply for your 35 weeks of parental leave? Right as soon as you start your pregnancy leave? If you do that, does EI hold off on paying you for the parental leave until after your pregnancy leave is done or does the 35 weeks start immediately after you apply for it?
I hope that makes sense?!

Yup, you won't even notice it. Which is good, because the last thing you want to think about when you're off enjoying time with your baby.
