Getting a quote from a cleaning service. HELP!
Someone is coming out today to give us a quote for housekeeping services (it is a service). The owner wanted me to have a list of pet peeves/etc as she likes to customize service.
I am so bad at this - DH would be much better. I like things to be neat and orderly, but I hate hate hate cleaning, so I don't think much of it. Our old cleaning lady slacked a lot at the end, so I know some things she didn't do/did half ass that I can discuss. I asked DH for example and he was like "I want the bathroom floors cleaned every time" I was like "she did clean them every time"....well, long story short, after much discussion, I figured out he meant he wanted the floors washed by hand. I never would have even thought to ask for that.
Any advice on things I should think of/ask her about?
Re: Getting a quote from a cleaning service. HELP!
He wanted the floors washed by hand?? lol - sorry, but does has he ever washed floors by hand? I think that's why they invented mops.
It does sound like maybe something he should contribute too, as it seems like he has high standards. Also, I would think that they would charge more for that as it's a lot harder work and takes more time than mopping.
Baseboars are one thing that come to mind to specifically request. Other small things might be cleaning blinds/window treatments etc.
Good luck!
Oh - he most definitely has done it by hand. He never uses a mop when he washes floors. He always does it by hand. That is how his parents do it, so I guess that is how he learned. I always use a mop. My mom was most definitely not the best cleaner (must be where I get it from LOL), and she always used a mop. He just about had a heart attack the first time he saw me wash the floor with a mop. I have a steam mop now, so that makes him a bit happier, but he still prefers it to be done by hand.
I prefer to wash floors by hand, too. Especially bathroom floors. If I use a mop I end up just pushing things into corners and icky stuff ends up in the unholy abyss behind the toilet. Plus, if I use a mop the dog gets all offended that I have brought out his arch nemesis and goes into full on "mop attack mode", and then pees on it for good measure.
Honestly, I'm just better off doing it by hand.
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!
I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!

I always wash a bathroom floor by hand! How else can you make sure it's clean in the nooks&crannies around the toilet bowl? A mop doesn't get in there well enough IMO....and we have 4 bathrooms
I always clean around the toilet by hand, but not the full bathroom floors. Corners get extra attention when I clean the baseboards or we use the jet attachment on the steam mop.
Wow - Pam - that's dedication. D did clean the grout by hand one day and couldn't walk straight for weeks! Now we stick to the jet attachement on the steam mop.
- All furnishings, washrooms, laundry room kitchen to be thoroughly cleaned including cabinets adn appliances.
- Window sills and frames, baseboards, railings and posts, switch plates, door and door knobs + light fixtures are all washed/dusted.
- Mirrors are polished, ornaments dusted, all floors vacumed (wood, tiles or carpet) tile floors washed, hardwood cleaner used on wood floors &/or laminate.
and I found a this site that list their services...it might triger something else!

p.s. you have a PM
LOL! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with a mop hating dog! Mine also hates the little broom vac. It was attacked this morning and it wasn't even plugged in yet!
