When we got married, I didn't even look at fine china very much because everything I liked was about $100 a place setting. I could never spend the money on that and I know we wouldn't have got much china for a gift either. But I always wanted a set. So last Saturday I got up early (which I NEVER do) and went to a bunch of yard sales for the first time. I found a set of china, service for 12, for $10, yes ten bucks!!! It's 30 years old but still beautiful, complete, and PERFECT! The lady said it was her mothers and they only used it on Christmas.
I also found the bedding set for our little guy. It's very similar to the one we had picked out at babies are us but instead of $180 it was $30, and BRAND NEW with two extra brand new sheets! They bought it before they found out what they were having. They ended up having twin girls. If I would have been having a girl I would have bought almost every pc of clothing they had. It was all so cute, clean and cheap!
I got many other bargains too, and nothing that we didn't need or really want (I had just watched Hoarders the night before) Lots of fun and some amazing deals. I was surprised at some of the trash people tried to sell though, and for more than it would cost at Target some of the time! Anyway, thanks for letting me AW :-)

That's so cool! Sometimes I wish I had a nice china set...
And great deals on the baby stuff! I'm going to a baby sale (baby stuff I mean, not actual babies lol) this weekend - it's like a mega yard sale for kids clothes and toys, so I'm hoping to pick up some good deals on a few outfits.

Wow - good find on the china and bedding! I love finding great deals like that.

I agree! I love things that have a story behind it. We were just talking about checking out some garage sales.
Ditto! I was just thinking that. Very cool.
Yay for bargain hunting! Woo hoo! Most of Libby's clothing is second-hand from consignment sales. Cute stuff for WAY cheap!
I still have my complete china set from my first marriage that I'd love to get rid of...I did place it on Craigslist but they all wanted it for like $50 when it's worth about $1200 (it's totally brand-new, never used). I was trying to sell it for $500. Maybe I should try again and lower the price to $300. I have Waterford crystal goblets and everything...all brand-new. Maybe I can just talk J into using it? *sigh*
