Re: so apparently

  • Oh no! Did they test you for it or just determine what it was based on your symptoms?

Look at it this way. You've had it now so you'll be immune to it the rest of the flu season.

  • Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  I was considering getting the vaccine, but at least now I don't have to.  They gave me an Rx that is supposed to help me feel better.

He didn't test me, and he said that there's really no way to know 100% for sure, but it definitely sounded like the flu and that's the only strain going around right now.

  • I just posted this on your FB but Cate's friend had it last week, she got tested and it came back positive, she was fine after a couple of days, I hope it's the same for you.  She was is one of those high risk cases as well, she has terrible asthma, they just up'd her breathing treatments for two days but she bounced back great (her parents didn't sleep for two nights).  My sister has had it to, she said the same thing two days of feeling like crap and then she felt much better.

Cate's pedi was saying that he wishes they would close the schools and put the same attention to the seasonal flu because in many cases it worse than the H1N1, it's just that the media has focused so much on it.  I got both of my shots because they're still not sure what strain I had, both are going around here but we are one of two states that don't have wide spread outbreaks...which is odd because I know so many people that have had it.

Feel better soon, rest lot's and drink ton's.

P.S  You were my hero for running the marathon to begin with but now I think you're even more awesome for doing while having the starts of this.

  • Im sorry to hear that your not feeling well at all. My SIL had some cases at her workplace which is a day care but the kids all recovered great and because of that they wanted a bunch of the employees to go on tamiflu right away. I hope it clears up for you quickly.
  • Oh no! I hope that you start to feel better soon.

  • Thanks guys.  I'm not really too worried about it, it's just kinda shocking to hear it.  He offered to test me for it, but I figured there was no point since I more than likely have the flu already and it's too early for the seasonal flu in NM (all that's been going around is H1N1).  I'm taking that Tamiflu and should be feeling better in a couple of days.  I already called off work tomorrow and possibly the next day...just gonna take it one day at a time.  Two of my CW's most likely had it too and they each ended up taking a week off but they didn't go to the doctor until 4-5 days in (I'm worried b/c my immune system is shot b/c of the race and the training, hence the same-day dr appt).  I figure I'll just catch up on my sleep and Oprah.  :)

  • Well, look at it this way.  You had an awesome finish time with the marathon AND you had H1N1.  Imagine how much better you would have done without the H1N1 brewing.  ;)  I think I'd be telling everyone "I ran the marathon with H1N1."  just because it makes you sound TOUGH (which we know you are, but still).

My nephew had it - it took him 3 days to get over it.  My youngest niece has it now.  She's not bouncing back quite like my nephew did but we're hoping she'll be over it in the next day or so.  Hopefully my OTHER niece won't get it.  So far she hasn't and she goes to school every day (and the school she goes to about 75% of the kids have tested positive for it).

  • You poor thing :( I'm sorry you are sick, get lots of rest. I hope you feel better really soon. Thats crazy that you ran a marathon with the beginning of H1N1. You are a champ thats for sure.
  • Oh man, that sucks.  I am sorry.  Feel better very, very soon.

I agree with mandy, imagine running the marathon without the H1N1...you would have probably been able to get under the 6 hour mark like you wanted.

  • Oh man, that sucks.  I hope you feel better soon.
