Okay I apologize in advance but I'm no expert on these things. I have super thick straight hair! Sometimes I don't want all the volume. I had a stylist straighten my hair once and I swear it was paper thin and I hated it because it made my face look fat and my hair looked fake. Do all straighteners do this? I love the sleek straight look but don't want my hair plastered to my head.

Re: Hair straighteners
If you straighten your hair correctly, it won't be super straight and thin.
I straighten mine in sections so I still have a little bit of volume (today I actually have a bit too much volume). I do the lower part, then the middle layer, then the top layer.
I have fairly fine, pretty straight hair and my hair doesn't look paper thin when I use my straightener. Maybe it's just the difference from the way it normally looks to when she did it?
I would think you'd want to round-brush it to give it volume, because yes, if you sat there and straightened it from right up to your scalp to the tips with a straightener, pulling it straight down against your head, it will not have any volume.
PS - My husband bought me the CHI and that feels like you're running silk through it. I thought my old one was pretty good, which was ok, but seriously, the CHI is SO much smoother.
